Hautajaisyö to release Surun paino!

The Finnish Death metal band Hautajaisyö are set to release their fifth album 'Surun paino' on March 20th 2026 via Inverse Records.

Hautajaisyö (Funeral Night) will release its fifth album, Surun Paino (Weight of Sorrow), in 2026, continuing its sorrow-filled journey through Finnish death metal. The band has been working on this new album for a few years, and it is finally being released.

The songs for 'Surun Paino' were written between 2023 and 2025, and have been performed live. On this album, Hautajaisyö combines the raw power of the last two albums with the more melodic elements of their earlier releases. During production, the band tried to make things sound live, giving the album a greater emotional impact.

On "Surun Paino", the band delves deeper into old-school death metal, while retaining their characteristic thrash and black metal elements. Add in the sadness and death-filled lyrics, and you have 30 minutes of pure, unadulterated Hautajaisyö.
