JOURS PÂLES, a project by Spellbound (singer – Aorlhac), rose from the ashes of Asphodèle’s first and only album, released in 2019 with Les Acteurs de l’Ombre Productions. Spellbound and Audrey Sylvain (Malenuit) were accompanied by Christian Larsson (Ex Apati, ex Shining, Gloson), Stefan Bayle and Sébastien Papot (guitar and drums, Au champ des morts).

After the band split up that same year, Spellbound continued the adventure, composing with a desire for both continuity and a break from the past, as the vocal duo was no longer together. This evolution responds to a desire to express themselves through the same moods and thick, dysthymic mists, while freeing themselves from the grip of the past, abandoning the rock spirit for a stylistic evolution leaning towards metal that remains melancholic, but with more galloping and aggressive overtones.

Éclosion, the first album from this new offshoot, is intended as a personal assessment of a world that is more than ever considered dislocated and torn apart, but above all as a perpetual search for hope and light, both in the lyrics and the visuals.

Far from flying solo, Spellbound has surrounded himself with musicians such as James Sloan on guitars (Uada, Gravelight) and Christian Larsson. The backbone was completed by several guests: Graf from Psychonaut 4 and Lilas Ondine Dupont (silhouette, backing vocals) as well as Sylvain Bégot (Monolithe) on lead guitar.

Sheltered from the world, awaiting its final blossoming, Jours Pâles was born…

JOURS PÂLES returns in 2022, still under the LADLO banner, with a second album entitled ‘Tensions’. Tensions is intended to be a personal representation of a dystopian modern world perceived as cold, mechanical and disillusioned, where social media and political scarecrows rule a Mephistophelean world that has completely lost its meaning and bearings. This general theme is visually represented on the artwork by Niklas Sundin (founding member of Dark Tranquillity, Laethora, etc.). Musically, the result is more aggressive, but the vision tends to distort clichés through egotistical composition, once again mixing genres. In addition to Spellbound, who is still at the helm (composition, vocals, lyrics), the line-up this time includes musicians such as Alex G. on bass (Aorlhac, Altaïr, Ritual Knives) Alexis S. on guitars, Ben L. on drums (B-Blast Records), and the traditional guest spot is this time entrusted to Natalie Koskinen (from the cult doom metal band Shape of Despair).

2023 marks very good feedback around ‘Tensions’ and also the beginning of the collaboration with the booking agency ‘Éclosion booking’ and therefore a busy year of concerts, including a 12-date tour across France and participation in several festivals throughout the country. Spellbound returned to composing and the band’s third album, ‘Dissolution’, was released on 10 May 2024, again via Les acteurs de l’ombre productions. The themes refer to disunity, break-ups, and the role and place of social media in human relationships.

In 2024/2025, Spellbound returned to composing and the band went back into the studio. ‘Résonances’ followed ‘Dissolution’ and the album was once again produced by Ben from B-blast records. The central theme of the album concerns the difficulties associated with the separation of a father from his child. Several tracks are testimonials or direct tributes to his daughter Aldérica, although the themes are broadened to other subjects such as the relationship with death, disgust for the modern world, the thrill of first encounters, the hell of paedophilia… The album also features some wonderful musical contributions, notably Kim Carlsson on vocals (Consider Suicide, Kall, ex-Lifeloer…) SD. Ramirez on lead guitar (Psychonaut 4) and Pereg Ar Bagol on diatonic accordion (Boisson Divine, Skiltron).
