Hailing from Hungary, atmospheric black metal band WitcheR formed in 2010. Since then they have established a unique identity for themselves, weaving tales of folklore, mythology and history into music of spellbinding atmosphere, creating songs that capture the heart and the imagination. They have drawn deeply on the great classical composers for inspiration, with this culminating in their last remarkable release, Boszorkányszimfóniák, which consisted entirely of interpretations of classical compositions. Now, Gere Karola and Neubauer Roland, the two creative spirits behind the WitcheR name are ready to unveil their most enthralling invocation of their heritage and identity to date – the emotive and magical Ӧröklét.

Within its five tracks of majestic melancholy and noble spirit Ӧröklét perfectly encapsulates the soul of WitcheR; their rejection of the shallow superficiality of modern life and their heartfelt yearning for past times of substance, meaning and value. Opening track ‘Ӧrökség’ (Heritage) is an amazing musical representation of that word and all that it entails – the eternal foundations of us all, entwined emotions of pride and loss given immediacy and vibrancy through rich and soulful sound. From this opening invitation we are led ever deeper into the dreaming world of WitcheR, through the haunting melodies of ‘Szélhozó’ (Windbringer) and drifting mists of ‘Röghöz kötött’ (Soil-bound); the measured beauty of title track ‘Ӧröklét’ (Eternity) finally delivering us to WitcheR’s sublime presentation of Franz Schubert’s ‘Piano Trio No. 2 - Andante con moto’. Inspiring deep emotion, striking visions and searching contemplation, Ӧröklét is a work of rare power and spirit that sees WitcheR continuing their captivating journey through hidden realms and lost kingdoms.

The autumnal artwork of Balázs Pénzes of Grafit & Hamu Artworks (Korp, Vrag, Siculicidium etc) has once more been chosen to enshroud WitcheR’s offerings and invocations – as it did both Boszorkányszimfóniák and the preceding Lélekharang, binding these works together. The digital, cassette and CD versions of Ӧröklét were released by Filosofem Records on November 4th and the sumptuous vinyl edition will follow, from Beverina Productions, coming late November. Leave the world behind and follow WitcheR back through time once more.
