A freezing new chapter emerges from the depths of Japan’s black metal underground.
DEATHROLL returns with the new album “A Woman Collapsing on the Glacier,” released worldwide on February 25 via STF Records and distributed by The Orchard.
This work pushes further into a cold and austere form of melodic black metal, where silence and intensity coexist. Built on themes of emptiness, grief, and psychological collapse, the album is symbolized by the image of a lone woman collapsing on a glacier.
All compositions, recording, and mixing were handled at Shadow Recording Studio, with mastering by Izayoi.
The closing track features a reinterpretation of Robert Schumann’s “Piano Concerto in A minor, Op.54,” bringing a classical dimension into DEATHROLL’s bleak sonic landscape.
