Fyrdsman comes back with “The Forger”, the opening glimpse of the forthcoming album The Free Man (set for release on May 1). A piece crafted on vibe above all, yet never meandering. Its black metal essence twists through intricate frameworks, driven by storytelling, tone, and raw feeling that steer the shifts in speed and power.
“The Forger” trails the record’s lead as he meets the ghost of a known face, a vision that thrusts him toward vengeance. Soundwise, the tune echoes that shift. It starts in a shadowy realm of crisp strings, climbs into roaring force, retreats into thoughtful pauses, then erupts into pure black metal chaos.
At its core, Fyrdsman stands as a lone endeavor from England, helmed by Tim Shaw. The venture merges lush ambiance with lively riffwork, weaving romance, past tales, and myth into a style that feels deeply anchored. The new record will also drop on CD, a hand-counted digipak run of just 200.
