Brutal Death Metallers Horrific Visions Prepare To Release Remnants Of Atrophy!

Texas is a veritable plague pit of brutal death metal, with a multitude of the world’s heaviest and sickest bands seeming to crawl like maggots from the sun-blistered soil. One of the most barbaric and uncompromising of all these bastard children of the blast is San Antonio’s Horrific Visions, a collective of musicians with experience in the ranks of bands like Putrid Womb, Defiled Crypt, Bludgeoned, Flesh Hoarder, Stabbing and Whore Of Bethlehem, to name but a few. More importantly though, Horrific Visions have been part of the Texas death metal fraternity for a dozen years in their own right and have released two battering EPs, Enlightenment Through Excruciating Torture and Monopoly On Violence…and now it is time for their coruscating full length debut album to crawl out of the darkness and feed – Remnants Of Atrophy is about to be unleashed!

Opening track, ‘Malnutrition’, explodes from a disconcerting intro sounding famished and frenzied and features one of the most sickeningly heavy riffs you’ll ever hear as its twisted tale unfolds. From there the band’s grisly eponymous track, ‘Horrific Visions’, bleeds fear and foreboding, tension and anxiety, as it tightens the screw, a knife twisting in your gut before it flings you face first into the rabid mayhem of ‘Deranged Perversion’. One of the album’s most effective and powerful tracks comes in the form of ‘Crippled Under The Weight Of A Hollow World’ which shifts between tempos – surging to blasting, methodical to frenzied – with a vocal performance that seems to erupt from the depths, shaking the foundations of reality. ‘Synaptic Reality’ is the closest Horrific Visions come to offering the listener any respite, but in truth this perfectly positioned plateau of sickness does nothing but make the skin crawl, before first single, ‘Primal Regression’, leads the headlong charge into oblivion that only ends when the bloodthirst of final, title track, ‘Remnants Of Atrophy’ is sated.

Remnants Of Atrophy has been mixed and mastered by guitarist Mason Vickers for maximum impact; it hits hard, cuts deep and leaves a stinking, infected wound. The album’s cruel incisions have been brought to inhuman life by the renowned John Zig (Aborted Fetus, Deeds Of Flesh, Defeated Sanity etc), with his trademark twisted imaginings adorning the cover of Remnants Of Atrophy.
