UNMOTHERED presents an emotional and personal offering in the new haunt rock album Corridors. The upcoming full length ventures on a journey of finding ones own path to release oneself from a personal prison. Corridors will be unleashed on December 8th, 2023.
Matt Walker comments:
"This is an album about catharsis and the personal corridors we traverse in the halls of our minds. It's about the inevitability of change and its constant influence in our lives. It involves many writers and composers of music I've been fortunate enough to know and collaborate with for a long time. Spanning nearly 10 years back I'm excited to finally have this album finished. It's been a long road."
Opening with "Corridors", UNMOTHERED dive head first into their heavy fuzz-filled sound; there's no gentle acclimatizing. Highly rhythmic, a wave of heavy distortion brings groove, intensity and a haunting atmosphere. Demonic vocals emerge from the gloom, more like a harsh whisper hidden within the shadows. Incorporating aspects of doom, noise and fuzz with progressive arrangements, Corridors is an experimental listening experience littered with unexpected twists and turns. From the thrashing, fast-pace of "Wave Theory Of Light" and the aggression of "Mirror Maker" to the chaotic feel of "Barrens" and vast soundscapes of "Apsis", the album traverses through multiple realms. Enter into Corridors, a cathartic escape, but be sure to remember how to find your way out.
About UNMOTHERED:
The band originated in 2013 in Austin Texas. The original line-up parted ways after Covid, and the band's leader Matt Walker relocated to Columbus, Ohio, but not before recording this record in Austin in July of 2022 with Josh Dawkins and Ryan Chamberlain. Musically, UNMOTHERED creates a guitar-driven sound drawing influence from the likes of Mike Scheidt (YOB) and Chris Spencer (UNSANE).
