War metal bastards TRENCH WARFARE have launched a stream of "Follow the Circling Vultures," the second single off their venomous new album, Achtung! Destroy The Weak.
The exclusive premiere of "Follow the Circling Vultures" comes via Metal Underground. Stream the song here.
Vocalist Jay Gorania goes in-depth about the lyrical concepts behind the song.
"'Follow The Circling Vultures' is about a soldier or warrior who is out
in the wild, hunting for a wounded enemy combatant. Our bloodthirsty
protagonist is hunting his prey in order to finish him off. He is sleep
deprived but determined, driven passionately by his love of his family,
his people, his nation. The hatred for enemy is profound as it’s linked
to the soldier’s defensive posture and need to protect his beloved
family."
Gorania continues by recalling the moment inspiration struck.
"The concept came to mind while I was on vacation in Nevada. I
could see massive vultures flying across the Mojave Desert sky,
above the fiery glow of the red rock formations in the Valley of Fire. The vultures began to circle before descending. Surely they
were there to finish something off, or at least to feast. I pictured
myself in final pursuit, keeping with this storyline. Following the
vultures who sniffed him out would lead me to him. The lyrics flow in
a stream of consciousness manner. I was thinking about how my
family was fighting for my father's life by helping him in his ailing
state during that time period. In real life I’d frequently tell him to lock
eyes with me and hold the gaze between us. Those thoughts led to my
appreciation for my lady's sunflower eyes. They literally look like
sunflowers. So my love for those two, for family, was the driving
factor behind my pursuit of the enemy, to destroy someone who is a
threat to them."
The eight tracks comprising Achtung! Destroy The Weak highlight a much heavier and aggressive sound informed by classic death metal titans like MORBID ANGEL and DISMEMBER, while their appreciation for bands as varied as DEIPHAGO, DIOCLETIAN, GENOCIDE SHRINES, TETRAGRAMMACIDE, WARGRINDER, RITUAL GENOCIDE, OBEISANCE and SATANIK GOAT RITUAL continues to shine.
Achtung! Destroy The Weak is due out August 28 on Conjuring Records.
