Traversus is a young progressive metal band from the north of the Netherlands. The band traverses the areas of hard rock and metal with a progressive edge with a tight heavy sound. The four-piece band draws inspiration from acts such as Karnivool, Leprous, Muse and a host of other bands.
Lead singer and percussion guitarist Madelief de Groot's lyrics criticize human actions and broach sensitive topics. The heavy riffs and melodic solos of lead guitarist Joey Wessels are accompanied by the tight rhythm sections of bassist Mika Linde and drummer Liam de Groot.
In September 2023, the band released its debut EP ‘The Only Way Is Through’. The EP was recorded in collaboration with producer Joost van den Broek (a.o. Epica, Powerwolf). The band has already performed at Eurosonic, Liberation Festival Leeuwarden, SPY festival (Emmen), Hello festival (Emmen), Graspop Baflo and Packhalle Open Air (DE), among others.
