Children of the Night, the latest album by Torchlight Parade, is out now. The band, formed by brothers Matt Engel (vocals) and Doug Engel (lead guitar), brings a heavy dose of theatrical flair to the heavy metal genre, with lyrical themes inspired by classic horror and their careers in the funeral industry. Matt works as an embalmer, while Doug drives a hearse, and these influences are evident in the atmospheric storytelling throughout the album.
Recorded at Encapsulated Studios and produced by the band, with Gabe Usery handling engineering, mixing, and mastering, Children of the Night is a fitting release for Halloween, filled with monstrous characters from Dracula to Frankenstein and Michael Myers. The album also features themes drawn from the funeral profession, adding a personal touch that gives an eerie authenticity to the music. Torchlight Parade channels influences from Twisted Sister and Judas Priest, crafting a sound that is both nostalgic and fresh.
The band is also honored to have Teddy "Zig Zag" Andreadis on keyboards and harmonica. Teddy has an impressive background as the former keyboard player for Alice Cooper, Guns N' Roses, and Walter Trout, and he is currently the keyboard player for Slash’s solo band. Having Teddy play on their albums is an incredible honor for Torchlight Parade, adding a rich layer to their sound.
