On December 12, 2025, the Kyiv dark symphonic metal band Thy Despair will present their new Ukrainian-language EP “Багряний Обрій” (“Crimson Horizon”), which includes two tracks: “Безвихідь і Страх” (“Fear and Despair”) and “Сокіл” (“Falcon”). This is the band’s first work with their new vocalist Marianelle and the first release since the album “The Song of Desolation” (2020).
Album Concept
The EP opens with the track “ Fear and Despair” — a bleak, mystical story about a vampire doomed to sustain his existence with human blood. Majestic symphonic elements, powerful guitar sound, and the contrast between academic soprano and extreme vocals create a sense of endless inner struggle between darkness and the remnants of humanbeing.
The second track, “Falcon”, is dedicated to the eternal struggle of the Ukrainian people for freedom. It is a hymn of resilience, strength of spirit, and faith in victory.
Symbolism of the Title
The title “Crimson Horizon” unites two thematically opposite stories into a single coherent work.Crimson is the color of blood:• the blood craved by the vampire,• and the blood shed by the Ukrainian people in their fight against the russian invaders.
The horizon turns crimson not only at sunset, when evil creatures awaken, but also before sunrise — symbolizing hope for a bright future and the belief that the darkest times are already behind us.
