Necrosexual were spawned on the streets of Philadelphia in 2011, an unholy amalgamation of thrash metal riffs, heavy metal melody, punk attitude and black metal imagery. Fronted by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist The Necrosexual – part Cronos, part King Diamond, part devilish deviant – the band released their debut album in 2018 – GRIM-1. Hailed as ‘seriously good’ in a 9/10 review in Soundscape Magazine, GRIM-1 laid the foundations for a trilogy of EPs, a split release and an vicious live album. And now Necrosexual are finally ready to unleash their second full length studio album; an explosion of riffs, of immense vocals, of macabre tales, lust, drama and defiance…Road To Rubble!
Road To Rubble erupts with the primal, Celtic Frost guitars and Venomous vocals of ‘High Times In Hell’, an adrenalized, anthemic celebration of the dark side that sets the tone perfectly for the carnival of horrors to follow. From the sneering ‘Lubricator’ with its rollicking rhythms and incredible vocals from The Necrosexual himself, to the addictive ‘Damned Romance’ which struts into life on a massive, grooving riff and explosive shards of lead before letting loose with a killer chorus, via the powerfully atmospheric interlude of ‘Twilight Drifter Intermezzo’ which quietly adds stature and strength to the surrounding mayhem, Road To Rubble engulfs you in its strange and thrilling world. One minute as dangerous and disposable as a hand grenade, the next building emotive epics about forsaken outlaws and inevitable endings; this album is whatever it wants to be, whenever it wants to be it. For all their heart-stopping shock tactics, Necrosexual are also an accomplished, creative and imaginative band – and that perfectly balanced duality has never been more powerful and effective than on Road To Rubble.
Mixed by Steve Roche (Blemish, Pariiah, Serpent Throne etc) and mastered by Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Blood Incantation, Cavelera Conspiracy), Road To Rubble possesses the perfect sound to draw the listener into its night time world of neon and shadow; a vibrancy and vitality that flickers across the skin like an electric serpent’s tongue. With the package completed by Philadelphia artist Scott R. Johnston’s gloriously over the top, road warrior cover art, Road To Rubble will be released by the British label, Black Metal Archives on February 27th. Don’t miss this incendiary album of sinister sins and dark delights!
