7 Mater / Sevan Mater will release the first-ever single vinyl editions of two iconic live performances from gothic metal legends, The Gathering: “Live at Dynamo Open Air” and “Katowice”. These historic recordings will be out on 21 October 2025 and are now available for pre-order in limited quantities.
“Live at Dynamo Open Air” is a historic live performance reborn on vinyl with raw energy, soaring emotion and pure 1990s magic. With their bold blend of doom metal roots, atmospheric rock, and ethereal vocals, The Gathering were already reshaping heavy music in the mid-90s. Few recordings capture that electric live energy better than their iconic set at Dynamo Open Air, and now, for the very first time available on a single edition vinyl, this legendary moment finally arrives.
Expertly released by 7 Mater / Sevan Mater, the deluxe edition of “Live at Dynamo Open Air” is limited to 500 copies each on black and purple vinyl, with a custom cover artwork designed by Sevan Mater that honours the spirit of the era while bringing new visual depth. It’s not just a reissue, it’s a resurrection. Recorded during a time when the band was ascending into cult status, the Dynamo performance showcases the perfect fusion of Anneke van Giersbergen’s soaring vocals with the band’s dynamic instrumental interplay. Songs like “Eleanor” and “Leaves” ring out with clarity and emotion, capturing both the power and subtlety that defined their live presence.
“Katowice” will also be available for the first time in a single vinyl edition. A breathtaking live moment finally pressed on wax: intimate, ethereal and long overdue. For decades, fans of The Gathering have cherished the band’s dynamic evolution, from doom-tinged gothic metal to ethereal rock explorations, but few live recordings capture that transformation as poignantly as “Katowice”.
“Katowice” was originally recorded in Poland in 2003 and was previously only available as part of the “Sleepy Buildings” sessions. 7 Mater / Sevan Mater delivers a deluxe edition that’s both elegant and essential, with new cover artwork. Pressed in two limited runs of 500 copies (Black and Marbled Red vinyl), housed in a gorgeous sleeve, this reissue is a testament to timeless beauty in sound.
