THE ETERNAL return with Celestial, a colossal new EP forged in shadow and starlight, set to ignite cosmic waves via Reigning Phoenix Music on January 16th, 2026. Steeped in progressive doom metal’s expansive melancholy and driven by surges of fierce, untamed energy, Celestial traverses the emotional deep-space between grief, transcendence, and rebirth.

The journey begins with “Absence of Light”, a dramatic and atmospheric opener that sets the EP ablaze. Dense with crushing melancholy, the track stands as a testament to the EP’s overarching themes: grief, longing, and the fragile threads of connection that survive even after loss consumes the horizon.

“Celestial Veil” follows, unfurling a 6-minute odyssey of memory and cosmic despair. Progressive structures collide with doom-laden ambience as the song recounts a bond too vast and too fragile to withstand the forces tearing it apart. Dreams, fate, and fading echoes merge beneath a vast astral canopy, painting a portrait of love powerful enough to shape worlds and devastating enough to break them.

Third comes the bleak and blistering “It All Ends”, a track carved from the ruins of communication and trust. Here, the band channels their fiercest energy into a stark meditation on betrayal and emotional collapse, capturing the cold silence that remains when words turn hollow and everything once sacred fractures beyond repair.

The fourth track, “Bleeding Into Light,” dives into a wounded soul’s transformation. Equal parts catharsis and torment, the song burns with yearning. Caught between clinging to old scars and surrendering to the painful cleansing of truth. It is a ritual of shedding, illuminated by spectral melodies and crushing atmospherics.

Track five, “Casting Down Shadows,” marks the beginning of rebirth. Wandering through desolate inner landscapes and cosmic storms, the protagonist confronts buried desires, fractured memories, and the ghosts of their own making. Through destruction comes revelation; through darkness, a new path is forged in stone and fire.

The EP concludes with “Everlasting MMXXVI,” a sweeping finale that shifts the perspective toward acceptance. After navigating devastation and cosmic upheaval, the narrator finally looks back from a quieter, wiser place, mourning what was lost, carrying what remains, and stepping forward into the ever-changing light.

About THE ETERNAL:

Following the success of their acclaimed 2024 album Skinwalker, Australian/Finnish dark progressive gothic metal band THE ETERNAL return with their new EP Celestial. Continuing their signature fusion of melancholic atmospheres, doom-laden heaviness, and progressive depth, the band once again delivers an emotive and cinematic journey through sound and spirit.

Featuring the tracks “Absence of Light,” “Celestial Veil,” “It All Ends,” “Bleeding Into Light,” “Casting Down Shadows” and the exclusive bonus piece “Everlasting MMXXVI,” the EP stands as both a companion to Skinwalker and a bold statement of the band’s evolving artistry.

With Mark Kelson (vocals/guitars) and Richie Poate (guitars) in Melbourne, joined by Niclas Etelävuori (bass, ex-AMORPHIS/FLAT EARTH) and Jan Rechberger (drums, AMORPHIS) in Helsinki, THE ETERNAL have solidified themselves as a truly international collaboration. Their music resonates with fans of acts such as KATATONIA, SWALLOW THE SUN, and ANATHEMA—dark yet luminous, heavy yet emotionally transcendent.

Set for release through Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM) in 2026, Celestial captures the essence of THE ETERNAL: a band unafraid to embrace both beauty and bleakness while charting new creative horizons.
