Thangram first song preview: 'A day in the life of Ivan D'
Thangram is a technical metal project formed in 2018 from the collaboration of Steve Saroglia(guitars), John Knight (voice) and Antonio Cicciarello (bass). A combination of energetic and tough rhythms, typical of heavy metal music, mixed withuncommon elements in composition is the core of the band’s own sound. The percussive session had been initially entrusted to legendary drummer Sean Reinhert (Death,Cynic). On January 2020 he started recording the drum tracks in "A day in the life of Ivan D".Sean’s unexpected and tragic passing on 24 January 2020 led all the works to stop, together with thequestion of continuing or indefinitely shelving Thangram’s experience. After many reasonings and also as a tribute to Sean's work, the single "A day in the life of Ivan D"is now published: it recaps the spirit that pervades the compositions since the early steps. In order to keep the value of testimony, the band decided to leave in the final mix the sound of Seanlaying down the sticks at the end of the track. Another jem that you can find in "Ivan D" is the guitar solo of virtuoso and Sean's brotherly friendSantiago Dobles (Aghora). The song, inspired by The Gulag Archipelago by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, comes with a videowhich was realized with original material provided by the Gulag History Museum of Moscow.Currently, with the collaboration of Hannes Grossmann (Obscura, Necrophagist, Blotted Science)on the drums, other Thangram's songs are being completed and the first Thangram full length albumwill be released soon.
