Bassist/vocalist Meadow Wyand reflects on how the band's newest single came to be, "‘Bloodstains’ is a song about transition. It discusses coming out, the blood that’s spilled in the process, and the scars it leaves behind. It speaks to the feeling of inhabiting a new skin while everyone around you sees your dead self.
It was the first song I wrote for Diana’s Day. I remember showing it to our friend Mike from Nuclear Tomb, who played guitar for the band at the time. He pointed out the resemblance to Siouxsie’s ‘Spellbound’ and Hüsker Dü’s ‘Pink Turns to Blue.’ I think you can also hear the influence of Sentenced, Maiden, and even a little Nirvana."
