Missouri-based black metal band AHZIDAL are proud to present their new full-length “Gaiar Alata,” released on January 8th.

“Gaiar Alata” is a term that all fans of the video game Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion probably know. It comes from the name of Mankar Camoran’s Paradise and it stands for “Visions of the Past and of the Future”. AHZIDAL has chosen this term because it mirrors the band’s past, and their growth throughout the years. “Gaiar Alata” has been in the works for roughly nine years now and has proven a difficult, yet rewarding endeavor. Through trial and tribulation, the band has refined their sound and proven their resilience. Last but not least, the part referring to the future shows where AHZIDAL’s ideals and direction are headed.

Breaking down the tracklisting, almost every song on “Gaiar Alata” is in reference to something from The Elder Scrolls universe:

2. Order of the Black Worm - A song about Mannimarco, the King of Worms,

3. Blighted Dreams - A song about Dagoth Ur and the House Unmourned,

4. Charon’s Obol - A song about the ferryman, Charon, ferrying souls across the River Styx,

5. The Return - A song about the eponymous event in which the Companions, led by Ysgramor, come and wreak havoc on the Snow Elves,

6. Emblazoned Upon the Breast of the Earth - An ode to suicide,

7. They Came in Droves - A song about the siege of Kvatch, starting the Oblivion Crisis,

8. The Shezarrine - A song about Pelinal Whitestrake, taking his vengeance on the Aylieds and Umaril the Unfeathered,

9. Of Firmament and Flame - A song about Tiber Septim rising up to become the ninth divine,

10. Fulfilling the Prophecy - A song about the events that led to Ahzidal becoming who he is, his travelling from Saarthal and subsequent mastery of the arcane arts.
