Spectral to release 12:12 via Ghost Depot Records!

Spectral conjures a thrilling combination of riffs and pop sensibilities in their haunting sound. With members hailing from across Northern England who all share a passion for crafting a distinctive and emotive style with intriguing arrangements, catchy hooks and a shadowy heaviness. Working with JJ Catalyst (Mothica, Hollywood Undead, The Rose, Kelsy Karter & The Heroines) and Ruairi O’Flaherty (Lana Del Rey, Paramore, Kendrick Lamar, Pale Waves), Spectral have crafted a dynamic and genre fusing modern sound in their forthcoming EP. 12:12 is set to release on the 12th of September 2025 via Ghost Depot Records.

12:12 commences with the energy driven 'Kali'. Vocalist Clark Kelly describes the track: "'Kali' pulses with the energetic urge and furore that pulls us all into the grasp of live music. The pounding synths, trance dynamics and vitriolic chants; echo with the duality of creation from destruction that runs through Kali’s veins'". Dramatic and high octane in nature, the fierce 'Kali' provides a powerful and charismatic offering.

The EP's title track is one of Spectral's darker and heavier compositions. Fletch comments - "[o]ne of my favourite things with Spectral has been having heavier (bordering on djenty) guitar moments, but just sprinkling them in to leave the listener wanting more! Even during the bands formation one of the things I was keen on was to be clever with the guitar, rather than just defaulting to power chords everywhere. Having said that there are times when you just have to go all out such as 12:12; I hope you enjoy this heavy one!".

"Saints of Excess revels in a lush undertow of gothic decadence", explains Kelly. "Haunting confessions of the vulnerability entwine with the sonorous synths, as the guitars coerce and lull you into the hedonism of love." 'Saints of Excess' is the band's striking seductive anthem with catchy melodies and a chorus lyrical hook certain to be circling your mind for the days that follow.

The creation of 'Sacrifice' took a different path for Spectral. "As someone who's used to working with hundreds of tracks in my other musical projects, I can often struggle with decision fatigue in the early stages of song construction", highlights Fletch. "One of the goals of this was to really focus on just getting one big overall sound and sketching that out in its entirety and that came in the form of a wonderfully phat bass arpeggiated synth, from a software emulation of an Access Virus synthesizer." A dystopian feel emanates from 'Sacrifice' with the fusion of vintage tones from the synths, heavy guitars, Kelly's commanding vocals accompanied with a choir of harsh backing chants. It's a slow burner, building up each instrumental layer into something truly enticing.

"Atmospheric and cinematic, Falling evokes the magnetic pull of a deep emotional connection", says Kelly. This gothic rock ballad evokes a haunting and intense mood through the carefully constructed soundscape of synths and layers that add melodic touches to this dreamy sonic experience.
