Born from the tempest-wracked core of Athens, Sons of Hades have unveiled the contents of their first full-length album Tombs of the Blind Dead, 2025's unyielding tribute to old black and heavy metal. Coubling the funereal atmospheres of Mayhem and Emperor with Mercyful Fate's pin-sharp riffs and Bathory's raw, unbridled ferocity, these Greek adepts aim to bring the metal underground to its knees with a sound both feral and melodic.
Formed in 2023 by guitarist and vocalist Apostolis K., whose legacy stretches from Demolition Train to Winter Eternal, Sons of Hades was born from an insatiable hunger to blend the most sinister elements of classic and extreme metal. Apostolis’s vision was soon joined by fellow Demolition Train comrade Vasilis K. on guitars, and the pounding low end of Alex G. from Nightbreed. When Vangelis F., noted for his relentless work in Sacral Rage, Necrovorous, and Chainsaw, saddled up behind the drums, the band’s force was sealed.
Channeling an intense crossfire of influences, with an arsenal drawing from the darkness of Venom and Celtic Frost to the frostbitten grandeur of Satyricon, the quartet spent 2024 writing and forging their first album. Tombs of the Blind Dead is the result: a record that refuses to be confined, surging between aggression, bleakness, melody, and the timeless command of heavy metal riffcraft. The album stands as the ultimate collision of styles, confirming that black metal’s most miserable air can coexist with headbanging tradition.
Sons of Hades recorded, mixed, and mastered their ominous debut at Ignite Studio, entrusting the album’s cover art to underground legend Dimitar Nikolov. Tombs of the Blind Dead will be released worldwide by Floga Records on November 7, 2025, with a sinister promise of more to come as the band readies to bring their raw energy to the stage and beyond.
Alongside the release, the band presents the official video clip for “Galleon” created by Hydra Rise Media, now streaming on YouTube:
