Skognatt was formed in winter 2014 by Danijel Zambo to follow passion for atmospheric and melodic black metal. Main influences were bands like Gehenna, Emperor, Ulver, Arcturus, Tiamat, Empyrium and Strid.

First EP 'Landscape of Ice' was released in 2016 and shortly afterwards followed by an ambient EP called 'Stargazer'. One year later the EP 'Ancient Wisdom' was released which lead to a full album with the same title. The next EP 'Artumn skies' followed in 2020 and it was also released as a Split LP by German underground label Schattenpfade.

2021 saw the release of an EP called 'Rain eternal' with a self-released small run of CD-R. The latest release is called 'The Swarm' and is also part of a Split-CD with fellow bavarians Wehmut, also available as a limited CD-R version.
