Following the momentum of their acclaimed 2024 debut full-length The Temptation of Pain, Sacramento heavy hitters SALTWOUND return with a savage new standalone single, "Pound of Flesh," available today via SharpTone Records. Accompanied by an unrelenting new music video, the track finds the band pushing their trademark blend of deathcore and metalcore into even darker, more punishing territory while welcoming a ferocious guest appearance from Ringo Waterman of MUGSHOT.
Seething with crushing grooves, razor-sharp riffs, and an overwhelming sense of hostility, "Pound of Flesh" is another evolution of the band's self-described "Norcal Violence" sound. The chemistry between SALTWOUND and Waterman elevates the track's intensity even further, delivering a merciless barrage that captures both bands at their most vicious.
Speaking on the song's meaning, vocalist Spencer Timmons explains:
“Everybody just wants to take a chunk out of you for themselves. Those who profess to love you want a piece to legitimize themselves by proximity, while those who hate you just want whatever they can carve out of you for the sake of spite. Some days I honestly prefer the people that hate me more; at least there’s an innate honesty there.”
Fans can catch SALTWOUND on their "Death Coast '26" tour with CULTIST in late August. Tickets are available HERE.
