Canadian thrash metal band SACRIFICE is set to release their first new album in over sixteen years in 2025. Titled Volume Six, this will be their sixth album and follows their reforming in 2006. The album includes ten new original tracks and a cover honoring the Toronto music scene that influenced them.

The recording of Volume Six took place at Phase One Studios in Scarborough, Ontario, with engineer Darius Szczepaniak, who previously worked with the band on their 2009 album. The songs were tracked between September 2023 and May 2024 and produced by Rob Urbinati, who is joined by the original lineup including Joe Rico, Scott Watts, and Gus Pynn. SACRIFICE is notable for retaining their original members since the 1980s.

Urbinati shared that he has been writing songs consistently, with ideas starting around 2017. Although the pandemic hindered their progress, the band ultimately had enough songs to create a full album instead of just an EP.

The songs on Volume Six range from fast-paced thrash tracks like “Comatose” and “Explode” to more complex pieces like “Underneath Millenia. ” The album features two instrumentals, showcasing different aspects of their music. The final track is a cover of “Trapped In A World” by the '80s band Direct Action, featuring guest vocals by Brian Taylor.

Urbinati mentions that the album’s lyrics address dark themes influenced by the pandemic, world events, and personal observations, especially regarding addiction. The album's artwork was created by Todd Kowalski of Propagandhi, a band with a long-standing admiration for SACRIFICE. Volume Six is scheduled for release on February 21st and will be available on various formats.
