Prog/tech death metal ensemble Requiem For Oblivion is proud to announce the release of a new EP, Hindsight 2020, that comes out on March 05th. A five-track effort written and recorded during the pandemic, this mini-album shows the band’s mastery of the tech-death, brutal, and atmospheric metal spheres.

Active since 2007, hybrid death metal dealer Requiem For Oblivion is the brainchild of Steve Jacobson (a veteran of the metal scenes in both Sacramento, CA and Erie, PA). Steve has assembled numerous musicians over the years to help him push his dream onward. Over the years, he and his accomplices built up a catalog of recordings that includes two full-lengths, two EPs, and a demo. Aside from playing a memorable show hosted by Metal Sanaz, Requiem For Oblivion has shared stages with the likes of Katatonia, Intronaut, Tesseract, Vital Remains, Cult Of Luna, Kataklysm, Fleshgod Apocalypse, and Mushroomhead.

Forging a heavy artistic connection, founder Steve Jacobson and drummer Mike Scutella currently make up the creative core of Requiem For Oblivion. On the Hindsight 2020 EP, the duo continues the band’s signature brain-scrambling technical innovativeness without relinquishing the devilish and perilous aesthetics of death metal. Throughout the five songs, they come into contact with different lyrical topics: causes of petty strife between people worldwide, condemning the misdeeds of government and society, self-loathing, scoffing at conspiracy theories, and even Egyptian esotericism.

The EP Hindsight 2020 will be followed by the upcoming full-length record, Amidst Chaotic Earth, later this year.
