Biography:
Finnish metal band Pohjoisen Soturit has been creating their unique brand of heavy metal for over twenty years, mixing powerful riffs, industrial beats, and death metal vocals, following influences from bands like Moonsorrow and Korpiklaani. Founded in 2004 by brothers Anssi and Ossi Leinonen, their love for bands such as Metallica and Dimmu Borgir inspired the band's formation. They took their name from Moonsorrow's song "Taistelu Pohjolasta". The group welcomed bassist Teemu Hynynen in their first year and began writing original music alongside well-known covers.
In 2005, second guitarist Riku-Pekka Savolainen joined, leading to their first demo, "Verisuot", recorded at Purkki-Studio. Anssi’s initial low vocals added intensity to their sound. The band performed their first shows from 2005 to 2006. Their debut EP "Pohjoistuuli" was recorded in 2008.
Despite lineup changes from 2009 to 2013, they released the EP "Naimahauta" in 2011. The band’s first full album, “Oksat pois ja osa latvuksista. . . ,” came out in 2016. After a brief hiatus, they returned in 2019, releasing the music video "Halaus" in 2020 and the album "Halaus" in 2022. They toured Bulgaria in 2024 and are set to release a new album "N" in 2025, featuring singles “Kuiskaus” and “Tolokun Musta. ”
