Chroma’s new single “Suphoria” is built around the kind of heavy music the band grew up on. You can hear the early pull of Gojira, Metallica and Slipknot in the pacing and the weight, but it’s shaped into something more direct and primal. The band set out to capture that simple magic of a groovy, aggressive listen that hits hard and keeps moving.
Lyrically, “Suphoria” follows a character who gets pulled into a cult and pushes the search for pain-driven euphoria too far. It’s written as a warning story, about blind faith and devotion with no limits, and what happens when you stop questioning the thing you’re chasing.
Chroma are four young musicians who started as friends first, and that’s still the backbone of the project. The band began as a Metallica cover band, then grew into a more progressive modern metal group, drawing from names like Gojira, Periphery, Mastodon and Radiohead as they started writing their own material.
