Out now, GRAVITAS is the self-released EP from BUZARATE, a one-man heavy project from Madeira (Portugal). Blending sludge/doom weight with hardcore bite, it’s a fully DIY release built at home by Nelson Gomes, and it’s already been picked up by outlets like Alta-Tensão (Antena 3) and BangerTV.

BUZARATE, a solo endeavor from Madeira (Portugal). Currently rooted in Cartaxo since 2019, following quieter years deep in Lisbon’s experimental scene (AVOIDANT, Earthly Beasts, Bird Swarm). With GRAVITAS, Nelson Gomes weaves snarling hardcore shouts into slower, denser arrangements, teetering between ‘90s hardcore rawness and sludge/doom heft. Brutal, visceral noise, yet laced with grooves that linger long after the initial blow.

Crafted entirely at home, driven by pure DIY spirit, GRAVITAS emerged from a turbulent chapter filled with grief, upheaval, and broken edges. It’s also a bold step for heavy sounds in Portuguese, challenging a sphere still ruled by English, walking the path of acts like Besta while clutching its own identity.

No support, no ready-made audience. The EP caught fire with “TRONO,” debuted by António Freitas on Alta-Tensão (Antena 3), then boosted by Blayne Smith’s on BangerTV.

Tracklist:

  1. SIBILA

  2. ASSOMBRO

  3. TRONO

  4. A VALA COMUM... EXTINTOS
