OUT NOW: Drunemeton - "Dweller Of Carcosa"

Serbian underground metal project Drunemeton returns with Dweller Of Carcosa, a new full-length album that brings together pagan atmosphere, blackened melodic metal, old-school melodic death metal influences and epic songwriting.

With Dweller Of Carcosa, the project moves into darker territory, drawing on themes of exile, forgotten histories, ruined kingdoms and the symbolic landscape of Carcosa.

The album follows the souls of the nameless and forgotten, people whose histories have disappeared beneath the weight of collapsing worlds. Throughout the record, Carcosa becomes a place beyond the mortal shore, a final refuge for the fallen, the wandering and the dispossessed. Inspired in part by the writings of Ambrose Bierce and the mythology surrounding The King in Yellow, the album explores civil war, catastrophe, memory and the recurring cycles of history through a dark mythological lens.

Musically, the album draws inspiration from the underground traditions of bands such as Ancient Rites, Bal-Sagoth, Menhir, Thyrfing, Borknagar, Blind Guardian, Månegarm and Suidakra. Rather than recreating any particular style, Dweller Of Carcosa follows the same spirit of epic, tragic and myth-driven metal that defined much of the classic underground scene.

The album also includes covers of Blind Guardian's “Mordred's Song” and Ancient Rites' “Mother Europe”, closing a record built around heroic melodies, blackened intensity and a strong sense of atmosphere.
