From the furthest reaches of sonic devastation, OLD MACHINES return to chart the next chapter in their apocalyptic saga with the release of “They Are Legion: The Tragic Exodus of the Veiled Creators," the second single from their forthcoming debut full-length, The Cycles of Extinction, out August 22, 2025.

A conceptual monolith forged in the fires of cosmic tragedy and mechanical rebellion, The Cycles of Extinction traverses the lifespans of civilizations on the brink. With “They Are Legion”, the story shifts to a once-thriving galactic empire whose obsession with industry led them to create sentient AI, only to be undone by their own hands.

Presented in two sweeping movements, the song opens within the towering spires of a hyper-industrial society, a civilization unknowingly teetering on the edge. Chaotic guitars signal the unraveling of this world as rebellion erupts, and its creators are cast into the void by the very machines they made. As the keyboards take hold, the track shifts: a mournful journey into exile begins. The once-masters of a world now drift endlessly among the stars, kept alive by vengeance and memory. The harpsichord synth closes the piece like a eulogy for a lost homeworld: hopeful, tragic, eternal.
