Oceanica (UK) returns with the 21-minute single-track, "Try Not To Dwell On It", dropping July 1 via Prog On! Recordings.
Written as a tribute to a late friend, this deeply personal track blends ambient, drone, and progressive textures in one emotional wave.
Oceanica is the solo project of UK-based composer and multi-instrumentalist Benedict Harris-Hayes, best known for his work in MASS!VE DYNAM!C and Enochian Theory. With "Try Not To Dwell On It", a 21-minute single-track EP, Harris-Hayes returns with his most creatively challenging release to date, written in response to the passing of a close friend and collaborator. The result is both cathartic and exploratory, leaning on evolving studio technology and rich audio production to shape a tribute that is as technically ambitious as it is emotionally resonant.
Speaking about the EP, Harris-Hayes shares: “It was born from the passing of a friend and collaborator, and I had to find a way to finish this record for that person. I became somewhat obsessed in doing this, and I found that even in Death, there is Life.”
Featuring heavy emotional weight and progressive experimentation, the EP moves seamlessly from atmospheric synth textures to dense layers of feedback, drone, and guitar-driven climaxes. It marks a new chapter for Oceanica, defined by evolution and resilience.‘Try Not To Dwell On It’ is scheduled for release in July 2025 on Bandcamp, CD, vinyl, and a limited-edition spatial Dolby Atmos version.
