The Viennese symphonic Extreme Metal band OBSIDIAN CHAMBER was formed in 2003 by Hannes Sandrini and Jürgen Klier. During this time, the band has produced five albums with mostly changing musicians. While the first albums were rather ordinary symphonic Black/Death Metal with mostly English lyrics, the style changed from the "Der Uhrwerkmann" album onwards. With the striking vocal style of Markus Schlögl, who joined the band in 2011, influences from "Neue Deutsche Härte" were added. After completing the "Der Uhrwerkmann" album, Hannes Sandrini and Jürgen Klier turned to the project "Candles and Wraiths" and produced the album "Candles and Wraiths" with Prabhin Velankanny on vocals for the album "Candelabia".
Since the band was dissatisfied with the sound of the "Der Uhrwerkmann" album, the album was re-recorded in 2022 entitled "Der Uhrwerkmann neu gemeistert".
The drums were re-recorded by Thomas Leitner as well as the bass by Hannes Sandrini. In addition, the guitars and orchestra were renewed by Jürgen Klier.
The album "Holzphäller", released by Running Wild Productions, is a collection of songs that were produced after the "Der Uhrwerkmann" album. These were to be released to mark the end of an era before the band dedicates itself to new works with a new line-up.
The band is currently releasing their new album "Ein Platz am Kamin" with their new singer Michael Kaiser, which is again more in the direction of Black/Death Metal. It contains seven stories set to music that certainly don't end well. In addition, three songs from previously released albums have been completely re-produced and added as bonus tracks.
