New single & video from MERCIC called "Beat This Thing!'

Portuguese experimental industrial rock / metal veterans, MERCIC are about to launch the official music video for Beat This Thing, a representation of dark times from the band founder and main man, Carlos Maldito's personal life, fighting mixed emotions while supporting three family members battling cancer simultaneously, resulting in a dark and heavy, yet optimistic track showcasing what the band does best with their characteristic sound.

As Carlos himself says: "Beat this thing represents a dark phase in which three of my family members were surprised by cancer in a short space of time. The music expresses the experience of the unknown, of being groundless on days divided between tears, anxiety, despair, anger and the obvious thought of "why me"... the result is a deep and heavy song that tries to captivate all this mix in a reaction of giving strength and being optimistic even when sometimes you have nothing to hold on to."

The video, directed and produced by Ângelo de Sousa, and starring actress, Lisa Pestana, interprets the mixed emotions such as sadness and pain from the loss of loved ones, the helplessness and frustration as family and friends suffer but also the strength of hope and the warmth and happiness that comes with fond memories.

The BEAT THIS THING official premiere will go live on Friday 28th June on the official UNPTV YouTube and also marks the launch of pre-orders for their upcoming full length album, MERCIC_XI out July 26th.
