Fire in the Mountains is excited to announce that the legendary Neurosis will reunite for a worldwide exclusive performance at this year’s festival. Presented by the Firekeeper Alliance— a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing suicide in Indigenous communities— the band’s long-awaited appearance will take place on the sacred lands of the Blackfeet Nation. Neurosis will appear with their new vocalist/guitarist Aaron Turner (ISIS, SUMAC, Old Man Gloom) against the backdrop of the mountains this July.
In addition to the performance announcement, Neurosis have dropped a brand new album titled An Undying Love For A Burning World today via Neurot Recordings [listen / share].
Steve Von Till comments: “I cannot think of a more appropriate environment for us to return to the stage. Last year’s Fire in the Mountains festival was the most profound music event I have ever been a part of. The weekend took on a healing, cathartic ceremonial nature that is difficult to put into words. Using emotionally heavy music to build community and collectively stare darkness in the eye is something we have always believed in, but using it to directly address the heartbreaking reality of suicide, grief, loss and trauma is taking it to another level.”
The Fire in the Mountains team is truly humbled by the band’s trust and dedication, and that the festival can be a place for residence, reconnection, reunion, catharsis, fellowship and gratitude. Fire in the Mountains Director and Founder Jeremy walker shares: “We have been working quietly with Neurosis for a long time to make this moment possible. Steve has been one of FITM’s most steadfast champions, and in turn, we strive to be his. To provide the stage for the return of one of the most impactful bands of our generation is more than a milestone—it is a dream realized. I find it difficult to put into words what this day means to me personally. FITM has always been a labor of the soul, a long journey taken by those of us who believe music should leave a mark. We invite you to join us at Red Eagle Campground for a once in a lifetime performance. Come be a part of what we are building; we truly want you there with us."
