Needle release new song, "Castles"

Needle released on February 2nd a new single from their upcoming first album, on all digital platforms.

From Guimarães (Portugal), Needle are Soraia Silva, Luís Costa, Tiago Sousa, Kevin Mota and Xavier Araújo, and form this project in 2017. Their sound is somewhere in between progressive rock and post-rock, with influences from Tesseract, Opeth and Porcupine Tree.

In 2018, they won the Universidade do Minho college band contest and the following year they released their debut EP, “Converge”.

Since their formation, they have played on many stages such as Enterro da Gata, Laurus Nobilis Music, Metalpoint, and in Comendatio Music Fest supporting the norwegian proggers Leprous. Currently, they are focused on the production of the next album “Fall”, scheduled for release in mid-2022, featuring the already released singles “The Absconder”, “Warden” and, more recently, “Castles”.

The new single “Castles” is a journey through the process of liberation from a psychotic state, symbolized as a physical prison – the castles – from which the protagonist wants to set free. It is this concept that sets the tone for the song video, where we can interpret the protagonist's hallucinations as a consequence of a possible overdose. These hallucinations place the protagonist in a kidnapping scenario, representative of the captive state in which she feels inside her own mind. It is the confrontation between the kidnapping hallucination and the reality that leads her to wake up from the trance.

“Castles” was produced and recorded by Tiago Sousa at Blank Tapes Studios, and mixed and mastered by renowned producer Daniel Cardoso (Anathema), at his Öhme Studios.

The video production was in charge of Coalblur - creative agency.
