MENTAL CRUELTY descend into eternal winter with their crushing new single “Frost”, taken from their upcoming album Echoes of a Forlorn Land, out October 23rd via Century Media Records.
Steeped in bleak imagery and Nordic mythology, “Frost” paints a desolate world swallowed by an endless winter, where darkness, isolation and the relentless cold slowly erase every trace of hope. Drawing on the imagery of Fimbulvetr – the great winter that precedes Ragnarök in Norse mythology – the track pairs MENTAL CRUELTY’s ferocious heaviness with the dark, atmospheric and cinematic elements that shape the world of Echoes of a Forlorn Land.
Produced, mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren (Dimmu Borgir, Behemoth, Kreator, Amon Amarth, Opeth), Echoes of a Forlorn Land pushes MENTAL CRUELTY beyond the foundations laid on Zwielicht, further expanding their uncompromising blend of extreme metal and dark atmosphere.
This November and December, MENTAL CRUELTY will bring the new album across Europe on their headline tour with Ov Sulfur, Extermination Dismemberment and more.
