Maul – hailing from Fargo, ND – sure is one of those sources of inspiration and has been since their first demo “Midwest Death” (also the tag they attach to their own individual style of Death Metal) in 2017.

Maul has grown quite the fanbase in the US Death Metal underground and is gaining more and more attention and visibility within the international underground as well. Still, it was disappointing to a part of the fanbase that they used to be only available on tape and the occasional CD. Therefore, in 2020, German label Corrupted Flesh Records (an underground outlet focused on Black & Death Metal vinyl) approached the band with an offer for an LP release. To satisfy the growing demand for a vinyl release and offer the most to fans, together it was decided to release a 12" career compilation LP.

Shortly after that followed an impressive demonstration of the growing fanbase when other labels jumped on the wagon to form an unprecedented coalition for a four-piece co-release, which was extended to all formats, with Hostile Records (Malaysia, Asia cassette version), Frozen Screams Imprint (USA, US cassette version) and Cavernous Records (UK, exclusive CD version) joining forces with Corrupted Flesh Records (Germany, EU cassette & exclusive LP versions - black / glow in the dark) for a global distribution layer pushing six editions simultaneously.

The compilation includes tracks representing all phases of the band from the infamous “Midwest Death” demo, the 2018 demo "Soaked in Penance, Solicit the Torture," the 2019 split with fellow Death Metal band Avarice, "Adoration through Annihilation," and the 2020 releases "Monarchy of Mold," and "Deity Demise."

After finding the title “Gallery of Torment” together with the band, Corrupted Flesh Records founder Thomas Braun created the badass artwork and with the release of the compilation on May 28, 2021 Maul will finally continue their triumphant conquest for the international Death Metal underground crown. This will certainly not be the last we hear of Maul, but still a well-deserved honor on the road to glory.
