In a world where musical boundaries are increasingly blurring, LowMad stands out with genre-transcending energy. They bring a unique mix of hard, heavy, sludgy and punk.

The band consists of four friends: Christof Bessems (guitar and backing vocals), Philip Couliez (drummer), Kenneth De Schepper (bassist and vocals), and Tom Fruytier (guitar and vocals).

LowMad originated about six years ago in the iconic Magasin 4 in Brussels. Tom and Christof, who previously played in the punk band Sinners, met Kenneth, who was then part of the bluesy stoner band The Gang Bank. They wanted to create something heavier together and eventually found each other with a drummer.

After a year in that line-up and writing a few songs, they decided to go in a new direction because the feeling wasn't quite right. Kenneth suggested Philip, a metal drummer he had played with before. Philip brought a new dynamic to the band, and a lot of humor to rehearsals, but had to be tamed a bit because of his tendency to keep the tempo high.

LowMad's music is a fusion of various influences and styles, ranging from sludgy stoner to punk. Each song is unique and is written without blinkers or attention to genre boundaries, resulting in a mix of slow, dirty, doomy and happy, fuzzy sounds. The band often starts with a riff or vibe from one of the band members and then builds together. This results in songs that are carried by the entire group and also makes for a strong bond during rehearsals and performances.
