Portuguese heavy post-punk/industrial group Louvado Abismo’s self-titled album is scheduled for 31 May via Half Beast Records on vinyl/digital, with a CD release to follow. The Lisbon ensemble has recently dropped their eponymous track, which also comes with a video.
Despite being a new formation, Louvado Abismo boasts seasoned members from diverse artistic backgrounds, including theater actress Patrícia Andrade (ex- Sinistro) on vocals, Hugo Conim (Dawnrider, The Limit, …) on guitars, Pedro Almeida (Scum Liquor, A Tree of Signs, …) on drums, and Hélder Luís (Mozart Meets Chaos, The Sleeper has Awakened, …) on bass.
Of the title track, explains Louvado Abismo:
“Delving into the depths of the human psyche, the lyrics reflect a search for serenity in the midst of chaos, an attempt to find inner peace, even in the darkest situations.
“The reference to the sea as a purifying element adds a symbolic layer, suggesting a journey of self-discovery and transformation through immersion in the turbulent waters of the mind, or even a purification ritual or preparation for a deep emotional dive.
“As one of the more cathartic songs on the record, it musically illustrates all the emotional turmoil described in the lyrics, providing a musical language where industrial meets the band’s trademark psychedelia.”
