Serbian dark heathen metal project Drunemeton have released the single “Dweller Of Carcosa” on 5 August 2025. The self-released digital release includes two additional tracks, "Mother Europe" by Ancient Rites and "Mordred’s Song" by Blind Guardian.
“Dweller Of Carcosa” points ahead to a forthcoming self titled album. The song keeps the project’s devotion to European mythology while drawing on the myth cycles explored by Ambrose Bierce and Robert W. Chambers, set around war and the haunted city of Carcosa. The narrative looks at victims of conflict and catastrophe, lost to oblivion, reading their own names on gravestones.
As one of the musicians involved puts it, the new material blends the spirit of Ancient Rites with Blind Guardian, a direction echoed by the choice of bonus covers. Listeners who appreciate early Therion will also find familiar shades here.
