LISTEN TO DRAIN DOWN “Mental Pollution”, out now via Kernkraftritter Records!

Founded in January 2018 in Freiburg, DRAIN DOWN fuse thrash metal and hardcore with a punk twist, a stance that matches their name and its focus on how society evolves. The first marker was the six track EP USE YOUR BRAIN, recorded, mixed and mastered at IGUANA Studios in November 2018. A year later the band spent four weeks on the road with The Exploited, a European support run through ten countries that sharpened both sound and message. The debut full length Defiance followed on 26 March 2021 via Timezone Records. In 2024 they returned with Toxic Society on Black Sunset/MDD, ten songs rooted in hardcore-influenced thrash and centred on social issues and the decline of society.

With Mental Pollution, released on 25 April 2025 via Kernkraftritter Records, the group continue and refine that path, lyrically and musically. Recording again took place at IGUANA Studios. A key change underpins the album: guitarist and main composer Heiko Kratz now handles lead vocals, bringing his words across with greater immediacy. The result keeps the core blend intact, thrash drive, hardcore bite and a clear punk edge, while tightening delivery and pushing the themes that have defined DRAIN DOWN since their start.
