German black metal act Tabernakel return with their first full-length album, Scheintaufe, set for release on July 31st, 2026 through Iconoclasm Conquest and Death Ecstasis Productions.

Created entirely by Ignis Nefandus, the album follows the path of early black metal while avoiding both exaggerated lo-fi aesthetics and overly polished modern production. Across eight tracks and nearly fifty minutes, Scheintaufe moves through cold atmospheres, driving riffs and darker melodic passages rooted in the spirit of the early wave.

Rather than recreating the past directly, the record draws from the feeling and intensity associated with bands such as Immortal, Dodheimsgard, Ulver and Forgotten Woods during their formative years. The production stays raw and dynamic, giving the songs space to breathe without sanding down their harsher edges.

From the opening moments of “Krypta Des Sinnes” through tracks such as “Im Nebel”, “Wie Die Gischt” and the closing “Ödnis”, the album keeps a strong sense of atmosphere without losing momentum.
