Formed by bassist Máté Fülöp and keyboard player, clean vocalist Atilla Király in Budapest in 2010, Meteora are a symphonic metal band with a difference. Over the course of their existence they have forged a many-layered sound; depth and darkness entwined in golden threads of melody, a triumvirate of different vocalists, musical complexity balanced with enthralling, emotive atmosphere…moving from the heaviest of riffs to the most deft of touches. The band’s line-up has shifted and solidified over the last decade and they have produced three well received full length albums - Our Paradise (2017), Tragedy of Delusion (2020) and …Of Shades and Colours (2022) – each one bringing further clarity and definition to the band’s identity. They have collaborated with artists like Jonathan Pellet (Rage of Light) and Chris Harms (Lord of the Lost), always looking for extra touches of magic to bring the very best out of their music. Now, in 2025, they are ready to present the next stage in their evolution, the next chapter in the grand tale of Meteora. In this Silence is the first in a trilogy of EPs and Meteora’s most ambitious and imaginative work to date.
Formed of four cohesive yet distinctly different tracks, In this Silence is the perfect stage upon which Meteora can display all the fantastic elements that make up their individual sound. The keyboards and guitars work their magic to bring tactile texture to the opening, title track. The three different vocal styles - Noémi Holló’s crystal clear, emotive and spellbinding voice dancing over the powerful timbre of Atilla Király and the mighty, throat-rending roars of Máté Fülöp - add life and vibrancy to the forceful and driving ‘Rebirth’. The band’s ability to engage and connect through superlative song writing makes first single, ‘Free’, an irresistible, spirit-lifting anthem. And finally, ‘Ghosts’ shows how Meteora can touch the heart with gentle, melancholic introspection – a concluding track that will haunt the listener’s memory, long after the music has faded to silence.
Adorned in artwork created by Dronicon Films (Swallow The Sun, Katatonia, October Tide etc), who are also responsible for the video for the already available ‘Free’ single, In this Silence will be unveiled by H-Music on August 8th. Mixed by Nino Helfrich (Thrash Cult, Traces Of A Life etc) and Dmitry Kim (Khors, Arhat etc) and mastered by Helfrich and Joel Wanasek (Machine Head, Carnation, Dååth etc) In this Silence possesses the sonic sheen to draw all who hear it into a dream of shadow and storm. Welcome once again to the world of Meteora!
