Hellgrammites are back with the track “Plight of The Boar” from the album Ethos!
Plight of the Boar is an intense hardcore song with some deep lyrics. The lyrics are meant to evoke a specific emotion through a descriptive narrative. With lines such as:
I will gladly play and pay the toll
Filling the shoes of the father
The order was short
the listener is asked to infer the message being driven. This track is just another example of the way hardcore music has evolved and can incorporate many styles and genres within its sound.
About the album Ethos:
Hellgrammites return with Ethos EP, an explosive and unrelenting new record delivering urgent social messages wrapped in a maelstrom of punk, hardcore, and thrash energy. This six-track release—written, produced, and recorded by the band—cements their reputation for crafting music that is both sonically ferocious and thematically uncompromising.
Lyrically driven by Erik Petersen, Ethos EP takes aim at political division, systemic oppression, and the battle for self-accountability. From the razor sharp critique of nationalism in Bayonet, to the searing takedown of bigotry in Body Shamer, to the introspective struggle of Pendulum, this record is both a war cry and a call for personal reckoning. Featuring a blistering cover of Refused’s Rather Be Dead, Ethos EP stands as a testament to Hellgrammites’ refusal to compromise in their art or their message.
Recorded across multiple locations, bass, guitar, and vocals were tracked at Cousin Cloud Studios in Denver, CO, while drums were recorded at the legendary Blasting Room in Fort Collins, CO. The EP was engineered by Colton Krohn, mixed by Colton Krohn, and mastered by Jason Livermore (The Blasting Room). The artwork, created by Troy Ten Eyck, reflects the raw intensity of the record.
Ethos EP will be supported by a series of music videos and an extensive live tour throughout Summer/Fall 2025. Known for their high energy, confrontational performances, Hellgrammites are set to bring their most intense and engaging live shows to date.
Join the movement. Stay loud. Stay relentless.
