The second album from HELLDRIFTER, Shell of Inexistence, expands on the path the band took with their debut.
The uncompromising fusion of classic death metal and melody, along with powerful riffs reminiscent of the old Gothenburg school, meets thrilling grooves that invite you to headbang.
Imagine At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Death, and Carcass joining forces—fast, melodic, precise, and deadly at the same time! Nevertheless, Helldrifter maintain a strong balance between heaviness and melody, as well as speed and groove.
All songs impress with variety and carefully crafted compositions. At times, Shell of Inexistence is reminiscent of classics such as Death’s Symbolic or The Sound of Perseverance—but fresh and far from being a dusty copy!
Lyrically, Shell of Inexistence deals with dark and existentially threatening themes: from the nuclear end of mankind, to the psychoanalysis of the human soul, to socially critical topics such as war and suicide. The album is not only a powerful musical statement, but also an intense lyrical work that delves deep into the abysses of the psyche and society.
Shell of Inexistence was recorded, produced, and mixed under the direction of Roland Böffgen and Helldrifter at Hard Drive Sound Studios in Stuttgart. The guitar and bass tracks were recorded under the direction of Vasilis Monopoulos in the band’s own studio. The final polish and mastering were carried out by Kai Stahlenberg at Kohlekeller Studio in Seeheim-Jugenheim.
Giannis Nakos (Remedy Design), who has previously created artwork for Suffocation, Morbid Angel, Cryptopsy, and The Crown, was commissioned for the visual concept.
Shell of Inexistence is a powerful statement in death metal that will captivate genre fans and newcomers alike.
Shell of Inexistence was released on May 16th, 2025, through Violent Creek Records and is available on CD, LP, and digitally on all major streaming platforms.
