Hanibal Death Machine (HDM) returns with their single "Stupid," a powerful dark metal track that begins with a slow, Viking-like march. The song delves into the grave reality of the harm humans inflict on the earth. Featuring a dark musical tone supported by a slow and potent tempo, "Stupid" signifies a significant shift towards a more organic style in HDM's music, a progression initially hinted at in their earlier release "Mon Cadavre." The single promises to be a haunting addition to the playlists of its listeners, echoing the band's evolution and deepening their dark metal roots.
Recording Info: Recorded on October 17, 2023, at Antistatic Production Studio by David Castel
Biography: Hanibal Death Machine, formed in January 2014 by Jean-Luc Loret (formerly of Votre Seigneurie, Lost, and Aloïs) and Thibault Beyney, initially drew heavy influence from US industrial metal. The band released two EPs, "Birth" (2016) and "Sombres Visions" (2017), during which they extensively performed live, including a 15-day tour in Russia, shows in Spain and Switzerland, and shared stages in France with notable acts like Sidilarsen, Psykup, Gorod, Black bomba, and Punisch Yourself. They even performed at a sold-out Bikini show for Sidilarsen's 20th anniversary.
The momentum was interrupted in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic. Post-pandemic, HDM released a music video for "Mon Cadavre," which has garnered over 19,000 views, marking a stylistic evolution from industrial metal to a darker, more organic sound. The band is currently finalizing their upcoming album, with "Stupid" being the latest single, further deepening the musical direction established since "Mon Cadavre." A music video for "Stupid" is expected in the first half of 2024. The year 2024 also marks the 10th anniversary of Hanibal Death Machine.
