German black/death metal trio GREH return with “Summoning Aversion”, the first preview of their upcoming album The Tyranny of Expectations, due in early 2027.
Built on a stripped-down but deliberate approach (one guitar, drums, and vocals), the band crafts a dense and abrasive sound that balances raw aggression with groove and dissonance. The result is a focused and uncompromising piece that leans into intensity without excess.
Lyrically, “Summoning Aversion” explores the internal consequences of repressed emotion. It traces how suppressed anger, disappointment, and mistrust can manifest as a defensive detachment from others and the world, ultimately turning inward. What begins as self-protection gradually erodes into self-destructive isolation, where both body and mind become targets of that accumulated negativity.
Formed initially as a solo project by guitarist Gjero Krsteski in 2022 following his departure from HELLGREASER, GREH evolved into a full band in 2023 with the addition of Maurice Müller (drums) and Martin Kocula (vocals). Since then, they have built momentum through live performances across Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands, sharing stages with acts such as Arkona, Firtan, Morast, Fit for an Autopsy, and others. Their debut album Dysphoric Devotion (2025) further established their direction, combining heaviness with a bleak emotional undercurrent.
