FALSE GODS release haunting new single “Suffering in a Strange Land,” announce new album Lost in Darkness and Distance out July 25th!

Long Island’s genre-defying heavy act FALSE GODS return with their new single “Suffering in a Strange Land,” a bleak and emotionally lacerating track taken from their upcoming full-length album Lost in Darkness and Distance, out July 25th, 2025.

“Suffering in a Strange Land” is a crushing meditation on disconnection, anxiety, and the alienation of existing in a world that feels foreign and hostile. Driven by towering sludge riffs, suffocating atmosphere, and the band’s trademark post-punk and NYHC undercurrents, the song captures FALSE GODS at their most introspective and punishing. Vocalist Mike Stack delivers one of his most vulnerable performances to date, channeling existential dread and personal grief into every anguished line.

The track sets the tone for Lost in Darkness and Distance, the band’s most dynamic and emotionally raw record to date. The album pushes FALSE GODS further into experimental and atmospheric territory while remaining grounded in the unflinching heaviness that has defined their sound. Drawing from influences like CROWBAR, YOB, KILLING JOKE, and GODFLESH, the record blends sludge, post-metal, and noise with themes of death, grief, addiction, and fractured identity.

Following their critically acclaimed 2022 album Neurotopia, praised by both Decibel and Metal Hammer UK, FALSE GODS have continued to expand their sound without compromising intensity. Lost in Darkness and Distance represents a creative leap forward, forged in personal tragedy and artistic reinvention.

FALSE GODS will join EYEHATEGOD on tour in May 2025, bringing their uncompromising live show to stages across the East Coast in the lead-up to the album’s release.
