“Accept the voracious passion for the pleasure of the flesh. Let it become an expression of your faith…”

EVOKEN’s seventh full-length album Mendacium, the follow-up to 2018’s Hypnagogia, will be released on Oct 17.  A masterwork that will define itself as one of the darkest and most oppressive EVOKEN albums to date.  Pre-orders for all formats/new track “Matins” now streaming HERE.

Mendacium captures a sepulchral heaviness saturated in deathly ambience with even more of sonic dread and anguish, taking the acute shift back to the monumental dirge-like despondency and woeful disharmonious tones mirroring the band’s earlier works, most notably their Quietus and Antithesis of Light opuses.

Mendacium tells the tale of a 14th century elder Benedictine monk with malady from illness preventing him from leaving his room within the monastery he dwells within.  His faith and service to God can never be satiated. Slowly declining in health and sleepless from continuous pain, the monk encounters a hideous entity emerging through a tear in reality.  The story questions, is the torment of this monk by each passing hour being inflicted by this entity or is it all within his own mind?
