The saying is timeless ‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’ For Kansas City metal-core crushers DREAMS IN PERIL, this has been the underlying story of the band since their inception. But after facing an uphill battle of setbacks they are now the strongest they have ever been with the addition of two highly talented new members.

The band would like to welcome and introduce Dakota Otte as the band’s new singer and Lucas Munoz on second guitar, bringing the band up to a more fierce and devastating five piece.

"In joining Dreams In Peril, I am not going to lie, I was nervous” comments the new singer “I have been in a few projects before but nothing like this. Nothing to this extreme anyway. The boys had the music already done and just needed my lyrics. It was for sure a task I was nervous about but took on, and happy that I did. This band is everything I have dreamed about doing for such a long time. I live in a small town and finding a committed band and people with the same mindset can be tough, but I believe I've found them. These dudes have given me an opportunity that I am beyond grateful for, which makes me super grateful for them and I am looking forward to what’s coming next with DIP"

Further to this, new guitarist Lucas Munoz adds “One night, about 2 years ago, I had the pleasure to share the stage with Dreams in Peril. It was a local show hosting the heaviest hitters in the Kansas City metal scene, and the band I was in at the time was one of the 2 small time openers. I'd already met the guitarist, Joshua (Crocker, one of the founding members) before the show, and he'd always go on about his enthusiasm over his bands prospects, telling me that they were going to go places. Well, I'm a smile and nod sceptic who has to see to believe. That night, I was made a believer! And now I can’t believe I am in a band with dudes who I'd once shared a stage with, but only dreamed about sharing a band with. It's been a blast, and I don't ever want it to stop”

For the founding members, drummer Jeff Adkins, guitarist Joshua Crocker and bassist Dalton Collins, reaching this point has been a test of their perseverance and tenacity, but as the band name suggests this is a hard won battle. “Having Lucas and Dakota in the band has opened up new doors for creativity” reflects Jeff “We had been actively searching for a guitarist who’s style meshes well with Josh’s. Lucas filled that void flawlessly. When trying out vocalists, there are several things we look for; such as projection, confidence, endurance and style. While we did have many incredible vocalists tryout, as soon as I heard Dakota’s vocal style I knew he’d be the perfect fit! The pair together are inspiring to me and are paving the way into our next stages as a 5 piece band. I am stoked to be part of this journey with a great group of guy’s” Adding to this Dalton offers “Dakota and Lucas has been an amazing addition to Dreams In Peril. The amount of professionalism displayed by both of them, as well as the musicianship that they both possess has enhanced this band, and i firmly believe that we are stronger because of them”

Shortly after completing the new line up Dreams In Peril spent fall and winter completing the writing for the band’s new album and have just entered the studio with engineer Patrick Swope. Commenting on the sound and growth for the new album, Dalton offers “I'd say that it sounds like we have grown as a band. We have had time to mature and develop as musicians. It is definitely a continuation from ‘Mephobia’ but more well rounded. There is more depth and dynamics added and are exploited from song to song” When considering the addition of the new members to the band and the new material, Dalton reflects “Lucas fit in with Josh well when it comes to writing song dynamics and has helped thicken up our sound as a whole. We can now have overlapping guitar parts in our songs, with solos parts and nuances. We had most of the album written already before Lucas and Dakota were added to the band but they quickly helped add to what was already there and gave their ideas on finishing the record”

Having supported acts such as BORN OF OSIRIS, ORIGIN, VEIL OF MAYA, BENEATH THE MASSACRE and BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, the band are looking forward to returning the stage later in the year and releasing the album late 2021 or early 2022. Stay tuned for further details and expect to see the band grow ever further with this powerful new line up.
