Death metal band ‘OPHIDIAN MEMORY’ are set to release new album ‘SERAPHIM’, continuing the expansive fictional narrative established in previous releases. Musically, it exemplifies the extreme side of metal through an emotional expression of death and black metal while expanding the core sound through prog and ambient passages.
‘OPHIDIAN MEMORY’ is a solo metal project created by Blake Lamoureux, based in Des Moines, Iowa. Blake’s vision for his band is expansive; each album tells of tales based in a fictional universe called “Existence” where beings of light and dark are entwined in a constant conflict against each other as they plot to destroy humanity and Existence itself. The project made its debut with 2021’s self-titled EP, followed by four full-length albums, of which “Seraphim” is the latest.
‘SERAPHIM’ is a journey that uses myriad styles of metal, including melodeath, metalcore and thrash, to create a sprawling epic journey of riffs, melody, and emotion. Blake’s attempt to fuse elements of his previous albums with this new way forward results in a heavy flow of songs, interspersed with harmony and groove.
