Hailing from Canada, progressive metal prodigy THE WRING is proud to announce the 3rd album "Spectra", due for release on December 16th, 2022.
Guitarist/songwriter Don Dewulf observes:
'Spectra' is the third album from The Wring. It is hard rock, jazz, metal, 80's rock, 70's rock, and probably a few other things, offering something to a wide range of listeners. The performances are tight and meaningful; the players are incredible. The compositions are influenced by 70's King Crimson, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, and, of course, Rush. This album follows on the heels of the 2021 release 'Project Cipher' and we are very pleased that it will be similarly released and distributed worldwide by Wormholedeath Records.
To bring his vision to life, Sudbury, Canada local Dewulf enlisted some of the best professional musicians to play the parts. Marco Minnemann – world-renowned drummer, member of The Aristocrats, and successful solo artist. Chandler Mogel – Amazing singer with a great 80's vibe. Reggie Hache – Canadian bass superstar and solo artist. Isamu McGregor – Session keyboard player with great vision and feel. Together they deliver an expansive and detailed eight-track album that touches on a wide range of musical styles and themes. The Wring seeks to deliver interesting compositions with a brevity not generally found in progressive rock. The result is a set of songs that will appeal to a wide range of rock lovers and prog nerds alike.
Since 2015, The Wring has been the creative outlet for the personal songwriting and guitar playing of Don Dewulf; a pseudonym perhaps. “Spectra” is the third album from this entity.
The band’s classic heavy rock intertwined with prog is recommended for fans of Rush, King Crimson, and Dream Theater.
